Opening Sept 4 in Philadelphia + Solo show in Houston

Douglas Witmer studio view

Happy August 29, 2015! Today is my 44th birthday and the above image is the view in my studio this morning.

The four panels pictured above will make their debut, along with a smaller related work, this coming Friday September 4, dominating the intimate gallery space of Tiger Strikes Asteroid. As it happens, with the papal visit to Philadelphia the last weekend of the month, the works will only be on view in the space until September 20. If you can’t make the opening, please join me on September 20 for a closing brunch. (I’m actively looking for another future venue or home for the works. Let me know if you have any ideas!)

Follow my blog about the making of this work.

Douglas Witmer, "When In Doubt," 48 x 37 inches.

If you are in the Houston area, I would love to meet you at my opening with Gray Contemporary in early October. This will be my first solo exhibition in their beautiful gallery space. The above painting (When In Doubt, 2015, 48×37 inches) will be on view in addition to other new and recent works. I’m also looking forward to getting back to Houston to see the Menil Collection and The Rothko Chapel.
